The pieces that comprise Mountains Songs (1995) focus on primarily unvoiced airflow, while the oral cavity is divided into three components–aperture, mid- to rear-cavity, and lingual positioning. These pieces extend what has been commonly referred to as extended vocal techniques by exploring the potential of sound as produced through respiration, phonation, resonance/filtering and articulation.
